Castle Slangenburg was first mentioned in 1354 as the property of Maes (Thomas) van Baer. Ruurlo Castle is definitely worth getting off your bike for. This imposing historic structure originally dates from the fourteenth century, but its current appearance is largely due to later renovations in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
