A very beautiful inhabited dike mill (every meter of elevation has been utilized), which is an exciting photo subject from different perspectives.

This battery—a kind of fort—is part of the New Dutch Waterline. A battery is a small, fortified defensive structure that forms part of a waterline. The site of the battery covers a total of five hectares. A barracks dating from around 1880, which served as a shelter during wars, is also located here.

Very friendly service. Sharing a salad was no problem, and we were politely given an extra plate and a small bowl of dressing.

Be careful in strong winds and I experience that you have to pay close attention because a large tractor can suddenly come your way

The castle itself is not open to the public. It's hard to find a good view when the trees are in leaf. It's barely visible from the gate, and even from the dike, it's only partially visible.

It's still quite a climb, but I'm thoroughly enjoying it

There are benches placed at the bulldozer. In the shade and out of the wind you can think about what you actually think of it. The bulldozer will trigger every passer-by to its existence. Everything has to do with the dike works that were carried out.
