Beautiful castle.

Bronkhorst may be the smallest town in the Netherlands, but in terms of charm and charisma it is no less than the most beautiful villages. With its cobbled streets, historic houses with richly decorated facades and a central church as a landmark, it feels like you are walking into a painting. Situated in the floodplains of the IJssel, it is also a popular stop for cyclists, with cozy terraces and regional products within easy reach.

In the middle of the greenery of the Achterhoek lies Kasteel Ruurlo, home to Museum MORE and one of the most atmospheric museums in the Netherlands. In this beautifully restored castle you can admire works by Carel Willink and Fong Leng, among others, surrounded by stylish halls and a picturesque park. The combination of art, architecture and landscape makes a visit special and surprisingly versatile.

Old IJssel Bridge

The Oude IJsselbrug near Zutphen spans the river IJssel, with the IJsselspoorbrug directly next to it on the north side. The bridge connects Zutphen on the eastern side of the IJssel with the village of De Hoven on the western side. The road bridge has a footpath from north to south, two fairly narrow lanes for cars, a cycle path and another footpath. The latter footpath ends on the west side at a staircase down to the bank of the IJssel. The bridge continues for a while longer. The bridge is still an important connection for road traffic today, even though the Cortenoeversebrug to the south has taken over the function for through traffic between Dieren and Lochem since 1976.

Everything goes over here. Bicycle, train, car. Mighty steel colossus over the Issel. The structure is more impressive than the bridge in Arnhem.

Unfortunately not freely accessible. You can only take a photo over the fence, because the area is off-limits to unauthorized persons.

Beautiful Hanseatic city that is worth visiting in many ways.
