A nice route to get to the nicest second-hand store in the Hogeland

The Sebastiaankerk in Warffum, Groningen, dates from the eleventh or twelfth century, but has been greatly altered by later renovations. The original Romanesque character is hardly visible anymore. The church was enlarged in the 16th century and underwent further modifications in the 19th century, giving it a neo-gothic appearance. The tower was added in 1638.

For me, the 14th century Menkemaborg is the most beautiful castle in the province of Groningen. You can visit the castle itself and the garden. The furniture is ancient and very impressive. The well-kept garden with its tea house is all the fresher and more colorful. Children have fun in the maze.

During the flowering time of the roses, the garden with its beautiful rose tunnels is worth a visit.

Of all the borgen in Groningen, this is one of the nicer ones.
