The keep of Ewsum The round gun tower of Ewsum Castle near Middelstum was built in 1472 by knight Onno van Ewsum. With its thick walls and loopholes, it offered protection during a time of war and the rise of firearms. This is the most important remaining example of the once impressive castle; the rest was demolished in the 19th century. Today, the tower is part of the historic castle grounds, along with gardens and heritage belonging to Het Groninger Landschap (The Groningen Landscape).

The tearoom is open from Tuesday to Friday from 11am to 5pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 5pm

Here you will find a historical vegetable garden, a herb garden that is mainly used by the tearoom on the manor, an orchard, a flower garden and a sunny fruit wall. All designed according to the principles of gardening in the year 1800.

the oldest part of this bakery was built in 1689 and the second part was added in the 19th century. The last baker was Hendrikus Mendels. Hendrikus was best known for his rye bread that he baked in an oven heated with bundles of branches and peat. In 1960 he was given the choice to modernize his bakery, which no longer met the demands of the time, or to close it. He chose the latter.
