NL Architects from Amsterdam designed the Forum building. Their design was selected in 2007 by both Groningen residents and a jury of experts from among seven entries by international architectural firms. The striking building, whose sharp lines stand out from the historic city center like a modern monolith, is 45 meters high, has ten floors, and a roof terrace. The building consists of two "towers," a west and an east tower, crisscrossed by escalators.
