The castle is located on an island near the Dommel River and dates from around 1400, but is no longer in its original state. It was likely renovated between 1504 and 1509 by Jan Heyns, one of the architects of St. John's Cathedral in 's-Hertogenbosch.

Partners Klaas van Leengoed and Niek van Lieverloo joined forces in 2015 to breathe new life into Kasteel Maurick. Klaas had always seen the charm and possibilities that Kasteel Maurick has to offer. And Niek had been dreaming of his own restaurant for years. During their meeting, it became clear that they shared their admiration for this special location. In the autumn, they reopened the castle doors. The Wamberg is a wooded estate of approximately 182 hectares. There are playhouses, farms, a gardener's house and a carriage house with a gate.

This castle still looks so well maintained. Imagine working at the school next door. Then you have a great view. By the way, there is a restaurant in the castle. Stimulate your senses and be surprised! On our atmospheric terrace and in the coach house restaurant you can enjoy a seasonally inspired menu. On Sundays between 12:00 and 18:00 the castle is open for lunch or a cozy drink. Lunch menu The kitchen is open 12:00 – 18:00.

It is wonderful to walk around the castle in the Sterrebos. You will find a large parking lot there. The center of Vught is (across the footbridge) a stone's throw away.
