Beautiful path, but in the high season you have to share this path with a lot of cyclists, so plan your trip early and on a weekday is my advice!

The Wasmeer is a special place in nature, perfect for cycling along the smooth gravel cycle path, or for stopping at the birdwatching hut for some birdwatching.

In 1932 the area became the property of the municipality of Hilversum. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the site was used as a flow field for the adjacent sewage treatment plant. Industries from Hilversum-East also discharged their wastewater there.[2] As a result, many toxic substances ended up in the soil. Nature in the area had become very nutrient-rich due to all the phosphates in the soil. The area became overgrown with reeds and willows. When the area dried up in a hot, dry summer, the contaminated sludge began to drift. This created a dangerous situation. In the summer of 2003, therefore, a radical remediation was started, which was completed in 2011.

Nice path but in the summer it is full of flies.
