The Dutch really have a wide and well-maintained cycling network.

This wooden church building was commissioned in 1950 by the Doorn branch of the Dutch Protestant Union and opened that same year, on Whit Sunday. The Dutch Protestant Union was founded in 1870 by freethinkers, scientists, and non-dogmatic believers. The Doorn branch was established on July 11, 1946. The design for the church building was provided by the architectural firm G.W.F. Berning in Baarn. The plot was purchased from Mr. M. Lels, director of L. Smit & Co's International Sleepdienst in Rotterdam. Thanks to his mediation, the Dutch Protestant Union was able to obtain a consignment of dunnage for the construction of the church walls, despite the timber shortage in the immediate post-war period. Dunnage was wood intended for securing shiploads. A small turret was erected on the church roof, in which a bell, donated by Dr. Endert, was installed in 1951.
