The bicycle bridge (Overzetbrug) over the Kromme Mijdrecht in De Hoef has been restored and is in use again. Cyclists and pedestrians who want to go back and forth to the other side have been able to do so for a few days already. In mid-May, the Overzetbrug was badly damaged because a freighter had run into it. Just at the time when many school children used the bridge to take their exams and tests at school. The municipality then temporarily used a ferry so that everyone could still cross the river. That's over now. The bicycle bridge is an important link in the bicycle route of students from South Holland (Zevenhoven) to the province of Utrecht (Mijdrecht/Uithoorn) and vice versa. Shipping traffic can now also pass through the bridge. It opens (and closes again) automatically by remote control. Let's hope every skipper keeps his rudder straight. During the ride with the OMNI's today, we passed this newly restored bridge.
