The long distance walk The Yorkshire Heritage Way goes through Saltaire and the World Heritage site at Fountains Abbey on its way from Bradford Cathedral to Ripon Cathedral. On a personal note my Dad taught art to a young David Hockney at Bradford Grammar School ( tbf my dad always said with talent like that it was more a matter of being encouraging and not getting in the way )

Great range of beers and nice beer garden

Surprise View is a scenic viewpoint located above the town of Otley in Yorkshire. On a fine day you can more or less take a visual tour from York to Skipton and eye-feast the landscape in detail, including across the wonderful Yorkshire Dales.

Saltaire is a world heritage site. Titus Salt built this village to house his mill workers. Its well worth a stop. The old mill is full of interesting things, books, art (Hockney gallery) history, cafes. https://saltairevillage.info/

A great 360 degree view point above Otley and close to the car park so easily accessible.

Almscliffe crag is a millstone grit rocky outcrop that has been designated an Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). It is also sometimes known as Almscliff Crag or Great Almscliff Crag (the little one is three miles north west of here). There are 545 climbing and bouldering routes on the crag so you're likely to see climbers out on the rock.

Nice pub welcoming muddy boot and dogs. If you sit outside you can look out over the valley and watch the planes land and take off.

Delicious version of a Fat Rascal called a Yorkshire Scoundrel - Ask for it with butter. It really hit the spot and their coffee is great too. Bike locks available inside - just ask.

Otley is a hive of adventurous activity, welcoming visitors seeking the great outdoors from the nearby cities of Leeds and Bradford. It is the gateway to Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, while the Yorkshire Dales National Park is just a short drive away too. Nestled on the River Wharfe, there is plenty of excellent walking in the surrounding countryside, be it on the moors, along the river or in beautiful woodland. Back in town, there are plenty of cafes, pubs, restaurants, boutiques and gear shops to keep you entertained for hours. To the south of the town is the Chevin, a wooded gritstone escarpment full of historical and scenic interest. The 180-acre (73 ha) site is criss-crossed by excellent paths. Further afield, Ilkley Moor is a magnificent place for a moorland ramble.

Well maintained BMX track, well worth stopping by for a few laps.

There's not many fish and chip restaurants that have a grand piano and chandeliers.

Fantastic pork pies, friendly service, outdoor seating. A winner!

Great spot for a picnic. Beautiful river side paths to explore.

Lovely quiet lane, single track in most places, winding down from The Crag towards Leathley where you can easily head to Otley, Pool in Wharfedale or Harrogate direction.

Otley is full of great independent cafes. My very favourite is Bloomfield Square - opposite the side entrance to the Sainsburys car park. The owner is a keen cyclist too and the Brownlee's seem to enjoy a visit here as well.

Great views on the fairly quiet back road between Otley and Ilkley

Big-boy climb but worth it. It doesn't stop so be prepared for a slog
