The Regional Park Tower is a 41-meter-high observation tower located near the visitor center of the Regional Park Portal at the Weilbach gravel pits, northeast of Weilbach in the Main-Taunus district of Hesse. In addition to the Regional Park Portal for the Rhine-Main Regional Park, which opened in 2011, the planning also included the construction of a highly visible landmark directly related to the Regional Park and its focus on nature. Thus, in 2012, the Regional Park Tower was erected according to the plans of architect Peter Karle. Its overall form is designed as a large sculpture, intended to evoke associations and interpretations of natural forms in the viewer, such as a blossom or a bud. The €500,000 project, which was even dubbed the "Tower of Evil" in advance due to the involvement of the Fraport Foundation,[1] was to be financed by Regionalpark-Pilot GmbH (€160,000), Regionalpark Ballungsraum GmbH (€170,000), the State of Hesse (€102,000), and Fraport AG (€68,000). In 2013, the Wiesbaden chapter of the Association of German Architects (BDA) awarded the Regionalpark Tower the Johann Wilhelm Lehr Plaque for outstanding architecture in Hesse.

The "Poet's House" is one of the most playful landscape artworks in the Rhine-Main Regional Park. But: Anyone who approaches this project, ostensibly dedicated to Goethe, nestled in a tall ginkgo grove, will find profound insights on many levels—how could it be otherwise, given that it is a symbol of poetry rendered in stone? A house without exterior walls, a (writing) pen like a weathervane in the wind, inscribed metal plates like windblown leaves, a former gravel pit transformed into a landfill and now overgrown with greenery: Many associations immediately spring to mind. Thoughts on the ephemeral nature of art, perhaps, especially poetry. The ever-open, yet also vulnerable house, perched alone high on a hill. Below it, the deep, transformative foundation. Interpreters will find great joy here—but one can also simply sit on the roughly twelve-meter-high mound without any ulterior motives, enjoying the view and the gentle summer breeze. Summer? Yes, because this place tastes like a summer's day. It has something cheerful and serene about it. And that would certainly have pleased the driving force behind the place immensely. While the house, with its cruciform central wall and eleven-meter-diameter roof, is dedicated to all poets, it is dedicated to the great Goethe even more so. And not only because of its proximity to his birthplace, Frankfurt, but also because one of his many journeys took him to the Flörsheim region in 1814. His journey was to the Rhine, Main, and Neckar rivers—rivers that, at that time, were the object of the young Romantics' hearts—true places of longing. And Goethe? He was inspired to write his most famous cycle of poems, the West-Eastern Divan. This also includes the famous poem about the ginkgo tree. It deals with the distinctive shape of its leaf, which is so symbolically divided. Anyone who wants to know what the inspiring tree looks like only needs to go to the house with the "book walls": A ginkgo grove has been planted around it.
