The former inn at Marktplatz 2 is a listed building. It is a two-story building with a high, half-hipped roof dating from the first half of the 19th century. The inn has been closed since 2021.

The market town of Sparneck is located in the Hof district and is the seat of the Sparneck administrative community. The town lies at an elevation of 560 meters in the Pfarrbachtal valley. The Saxon Saale River flows through this valley to the north. The Waldstein mountain range forms the natural border with the Wunsiedel district.

A narrow nature trail through the forest leads to the source of the Saale.

Don't walk past it!

The source is located at 707 meters in the middle of the Münchberg city forest. The source hiking trail between the municipality of Zell and the Waldstein leads to the square shaded by beeches. The water of the Saxon Saale wells up from the tunnel of a former mine. A stone plaque above the mouth hole provides information with an inscription about the spring being tapped in 1869 by the towns of Münchberg, Schwarzenbach/Saale, Hof, Weißenfels and Halle.

If the Waldsteinhaus is on the way, it is a must to take a break, we were guests in this house on 11/13/22, nice service, huge portions at reasonable prices. simply recommended. There is parking on site so you have a good starting point for hiking. We will be back
