Perfect views on a clear day from the Paderborn Plateau. Geologically, the Paderborn Plateau forms the southeastern boundary of the Westphalian Basin and is simultaneously the largest limestone and karst landscape in Westphalia. In the natural regional classification of the Handbook of Natural Regional Divisions of Germany, it is assigned to the Upper Weser Uplands within the Lower Saxon Hills.

A small, sturdy shelter with two legs is located very close to the beech tree; there's an information panel. It's a great place to rest, especially in windy and cold weather!

In the eastern Pader source area, two branches of the Pader rise: the Rothoborn and the Dielenpader.

The Dielenpader and the street "Auf den Dielen" are named so because here the Pader runs so close to the houses that the residents always had to walk over Dielen to get into their house.

The former hunting lodge of Prince-Bishop Dietrich Adolph von der Recke is a listed building and is now owned by the Catholic parish of St. Johannes Nepomuk. The historic half-timbered building is now a Hövelhof landmark and a popular photo backdrop. The castle gardens are a great place to linger. The Hövelhof Tourist Information and the Ems Cycle Path office are located in the adjacent building.
