The rock tunnel is located shortly before the end of the north face trail, coming from the Alpspitze via the east ridge towards the Alpspitzbahn mountain station. A headlamp is recommended, as the ground can be damp and slippery in places.

To the hiker/walker lingering at this small sacred monument, I would like to offer a short excerpt from Christiane Völkel as a meditative reflection, in which she explains to us—or perhaps better put: especially—in the face of the cross, “that our perspective is heaven”: “We Christians have experienced that God follows his promises with deeds. Just as he sent Jesus [whom we encounter on this crucifix, nailed to the wood of the cross] into the world to bring us the ‘Good News’ [this is the translation of the word ‘Gospel’] of his love and salvation, to work in miracles and signs… so too has he made it known to us through him that our perspective is heaven, here on earth and after our death in a glorified, yet real way in its divine perfection.” (Christiane Völkel)

The church at Kreuzeckweg 2a is a listed building. The chapel is located on the southern edge of the village, directly at the entrance to the Höllentalklamm gorge.

Hiking trail to the Höllentalklamm Gorge. Children with alpine experience can manage the tour to the Höllentalanger Hut. My little girl, who was about 4.5 years old, did the tour twice this season. You should plan a whole day for it; if we start at 8 a.m. from the parking lot, we'll be back in about 10 hours. We'll be at the hut for at least 1 to 2 hours, and the children definitely need that time. We use the hydration bladder in our hiking backpack, which keeps the children busy drinking, and you don't have to constantly stop to get drinks.
