GOTTSCHLÄG In memory of the founding member of the Black Forest Association Karlsruhe Friedrich Bernhard Kossmann *October 4, 1853 in St. Petersburg The property was purchased by Friedrich Kossmann in 1879. His son, Rolf Kossmann († 1943), bequeathed it to the Black Forest Association Karlsruhe in his will, which was founded on June 3, 1887. The Black Forest Association Karlsruhe cordially invites hikers to linger here and enjoy the beautiful panoramic view over the Gottschlag Valley to the Karlsruher Grat ridge.

Karlsruher Grat is a must-do

The Eichhaldenfirst is a side branch that runs across the Karlsruher Grat and is 50 meters high, initially flat, then steep below the summit cross and with numerous distinctive steps throughout. The ridge requires climbing almost the entire way.

From here you have a view of the Karlsruher Grat.

Great view of the valley! There are bolts or adhesive hooks in some places, but they are still easy to grip for climbing. You should still be sure-footed though, as it is easy to go down the sides.
