The lake was created in 2018 for the State Garden Show. It serves as a swimming lake and also as a nature reserve. There is also a restaurant.

The history of the former mill, from its inception to its current use as a pottery workshop, is marked by remarkable individuals. From 1834 until September 1849, Michael Müller owned and operated the "Lower Mill at Dautenstein." He also served as mayor of the municipality between 1844 and 1849. Michael Müller became one of the many victims of the 1848/49 revolution. His commitment to and pursuit of freedom for the people of Baden came at a high and merciless price. He was imprisoned for "participation in high treason." Jakob Brucker took over the mill in 1853. Among the last operators were Otto Brucker, nicknamed "Bruckerle," and his wife Marie, who ceased milling operations in the late 1950s. Since the 1980s, the former mill has served as a creative pottery workshop for Georg Hach. He achieves unique artistic effects using a wood-fired kiln of Asian design. A firing in this kiln lasts three days, during which the kiln is heated continuously, day and night. This gives the ceramics their unique, characteristic appearance. Why not come and have a look?

Like a gateway to the Black Forest, the Geroldsauer Mühle lies at the foot of the Black Forest High Road in Baden-Baden. The building is considered to be the largest wooden building made of silver fir in Europe. The Geroldsauer Mühle can accommodate overnight guests in four double rooms and two suites.

The former station building is affectionately known locally as "s'Bahnhöfle". The railway line between Kehl and Seelbach used to start and end here. From 1894 onwards, a steam locomotive transported commuters from the entire Schuttertal to Lahr in the mornings and evenings.
