From the bridge, you can see the entire picturesque Rattenberg row of houses overlooking the Inn River... and the castle towers above. Why do I always only see this in the evening light? I have to go there during the day!

Rattenberg itself, Austria's smallest town, impresses with its medieval flair, glassblowing art, and charming cafés – perfect for a break. Whether as a leisurely day trip or as part of a multi-day tour through Tyrol and Bavaria, this section offers a variety of highlights, such as the museum village in Kramsach, views of the Alps, and small swimming lakes. Good infrastructure, refreshment stops, and rest areas make the route even more comfortable and worry-free.

One of Rattenberg's special sights is the parish church of St. Virgil and St. Catherine. This Gothic building has two naves. Once, it was a separate church for citizens and miners. Important artists redesigned the building in the Baroque style. A chapel commemorates Saint Notburga, who was born in Rattenberg. Noteworthy: an elevator leads from the Painter's Corner to the church portal. 😉
