The ford on the River Windrush is found at the bottom of a steep lane at the northern edge of the village. It's a pretty little place and ideal for a sit down and picnic.

Famous for its honey-coloured traditional Cotswold stone buildings, Bourton-on-the-Water is often referred to as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds'. The River Windrush runs through the middle of the town with five stone bridges crossing it. The bridges were built between 1654 and 1911.

Nice cakes, coffee, and light meals. Open every day 9:00 - 17:00. Broadway Tower is the nearby folly on the second highest point in the Cotswolds (after Cleeve Hill). The tower is 20m high. Built in 1798 and 1799.

This beautiful park in Broughton offers serene countryside views across lush vibrant green countryside. As you run through this park you'll be treated to sights across to Broughton Castle, a magnificent medieval fortified manor house.

This mill dates back to 1086 when the Domesday Book was written. It sits on the River Eye just before it reaches Bourton-on-the-Water. The mill has a museum, shop and riverside cafe.

Originally built in 1300, Broughton Castle is a beautiful medieval fortified manor house surrounded by a wide moat and farmland. The house has witnessed centuries of interesting history: from hosting Kings to Civil War battles. During the 19th century, the house fell into decay until it was rescued by the 16th Baron Saye and Sele with the help of Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott. In more modern history, you may recognise the house from its appearance in the film Shakespeare in Love or the TV series Keeping Up Appearances. Although the house is privately owned (by the same family since 1377), it is open to the public from April to September every Wednesday and Sunday from 2 - 5pm. Tickets for adults cost £10. Excellent rest stop after climbing up from Broadway. Good coffee, cakes and nice views.

Charlbury is a beautiful village on the eastern edge of the Cotswold. The tour we did was mainly on minor roads, suitable for anyone and good fun. Started and stopped at the Charlbury Garden Centre. Great cream tea at the end of the ride!

Stow on the Wold is the highest Cotswold town. It was of historical importance located on the Roman Fosse Way at a point where several roads meet. The battle of Donnington fought nearby was the last battle in the English Civil war in 1646. The local church was used to lock up Royalist soldiers as it was the only lockable building locally.

Moreton-in-marsh was a lovely Victorian coaching town that is now a car park. Where once a wide open high street allowed cafes, pubs, and shops to spill out onto the street, now residents line up their rangerovers side-by-side, flanking either side of an extremely busy road that disects the town.

Nice place to stop and take in the view.
