Stow on the Wold is the highest Cotswold town.
It was of historical importance located on the Roman Fosse Way at a point where several roads meet.
The battle of Donnington fought nearby was the last battle in the English Civil war in 1646. The local church was used to lock up Royalist soldiers as it was the only lockable building locally.
