This ride takes in mostly roads, some main roads , not suitable for kids. Need some adjustments. I will do this route again and make sure the whole circuit is bike friendly using green paths & quiet roads.

Excellent food and good value prices. Buddah bowls, jacket potatoes, good coffee, interesting fruit infusions.

Chew Valley Lake is a well-known scenic beauty spot, top quality fly-fising destination and the fifth largest artificial lake in the UK. It’s also a haven for birdwatchers, with wildfowl and migrating birds often seen feeding in the reed beds around the water.

The stream enters the River Chew just under the Publow Lane bridge.

Quiet little stretch - lovely addition to any ride.

This road is almost always busy so almost always better as a descent. I got up to 70kmh one time coming down here.

Open up the gas but keep your head up, it's beautiful.

Very nice road at none-peak times. If you're in the Chew valley this is the quickest way to Sandford and the Strawberry line and vice versa. The roads around Butcombe are usually quieter though.

Really easy single chicane climb. By the time you get to the climb proper you will have done most of the heavy lifting. Surface is fine. Shame about it being a rat run between Clutton and Bishop Sutton. Probably best left for the roadies who can just fly up it.

Crazy slippery ford! recommend to unmount and walk it through, either going unclipped and slow or fast would find you moaning in the floor. passed twice with different approaches and always someone went down. Nice picture tho...

A pretty village where the road follows a stream. There's quite a stiff climb up Bowden Hill and Bakers Lane to the south, where you can find a Co-op store at the top.

A stunning pice of architecture... Pensford is also a lovely village.

A great climb! Very long, but nice and steady for the most part.

Avoid! Lots of algae, I and many others have fallen here.

very slippy don't recommend cycling through unless extremely slow!

The descent of Cheddar Gorge is one of the easiest bits of any ride, but is just reward for making it up there in the first place.

Classic Mendip climb. Just ride it!

Use the bridge when too deep also don't pedal if going through the water underneath is concrete and its slippery I have fallen off before!!
