The Peace Bridge is an arched pedestrian bridge over the Mtkvari River in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi. Originally dedicated to the Virgin Mary, it was renamed Anchishati (i.e. Icon of Anchi) in 1675, when the icon of the Savior created by the 12th-century goldsmith Beka Opisari in Anchi was moved to Tbilisi to save it from Ottoman invasion. THE LEANING TOWER OF TBILISI is one of the city’s most unusual buildings.
