The Ortaköy Mosque, officially known as the Büyük Mecidiye Camii, is located in the Ortaköy district of the Turkish port city of Istanbul. This neo-Baroque mosque was built between 1854 and 1856 by order of the Ottoman Sultan Abdülmecid I. It replaced an older, 18th-century mosque that stood on the same site. After a three-year restoration, it reopened for use and visits in 2014.
