I stopped by again today and enjoyed my lunch on the bench in front of the hut.

From Payerbach, this viewpoint offers a particularly beautiful view of the Rax and the Rax-Schneeberg massif, with wooded hills and the valley forming an atmospheric backdrop. On a clear day, the panorama is a true highlight and a perfect photo stop on the tour.

Payerbach-Reichenau station opened in 1854 and is located on the famous Semmering Railway in Lower Austria. As part of the UNESCO World Heritage route, it offers a unique starting point for exploring a special piece of railway history. Its location makes the station an ideal base for excursions into the Rax and Semmering regions.

The view of the Eselstein is a striking highlight of the tour, where the rocky outcrop immediately catches the eye. Depending on the light, it appears sometimes rugged and massive, sometimes almost gently nestled into the landscape. A good spot for a quick photo and a short break.
