In Schmarbeck near Faßberg, two thatched sheepfolds have been preserved, standing side by side and representing a striking example of traditional heathland building culture. St. George's Church in Hanstedt I, in the Uelzen district, is one of the oldest fieldstone churches in Northern Germany. The Romanesque nave probably dates back to 980. It is located at the starting point of the Resurrection Trail, a 4-kilometer-long spiritual path with 13 art stations that leads to the monastery church in Ebstorf.
