If you need refreshment, there are four cafes on this route: Waresley Garden Centre (great cheese scones), RSPB Sandy, Ashwell Tea Rooms and Hot Numbers in Melbourne.

In the summer you can rent cycles adjacent the NT building (near the cycle stands) at Wicken Fen. The cafe there is good but I'd recommend parking your cycle in your eyeline unless you have secure locks (take your removable valuables off the cycle)-it gets very busy around those stands.

A nice town at the end of the guided bus lane from and to Cambridge. The small town is charming and also the surroundings are beautiful.

An idyllic landscape between ponds and small lakes. A place to rest and enjoy.

A very impressive campus, you can enjoy it and relax and also learn about the College there. Unfortunately the Chapel wasn't accessible during our visit.

This is great cycle path. Next time I would start from St Ives and head to Cambridge.

Beautiful church. And a great bicycle lane beside the bus rail. When I rode past this church there was the Easter Sunday service and I could hear the people chant and sing. This was very special to me.

Wilder than Parkers Piece and wit the river and constant rowing activity. Follow the river north for more out of town countryside on either bank of the river

A nice peaceful towpath ( if it’s quiet) runs from Chesterton, past Milton and ends at Clayhithe bridge.

A good place to cross the river Cam, makes a good short cut from Newmarket Road to Chesterton.

Cock-Up bridge crosses the Burwell Lode near Adventurer's Fen car park. There has been a bridge here for years, the older horse (and bike) friendly bridge was replaced by one with steps, plans are afoot to replace the bridge with a cycle friendly version.

A lovely little town, with plenty of coffee shops and food places. Lots of shops for Resupply.

The view over the Cam is definitely worth it, but you won't be the only one knowing this and it is almost always a bit crowded on the bridge making it a bit chaotic in combination with the traffic.

Unexceptional street, no reason for it to be a highlight.

Provides a direct link from Cambridge North station and the busway to the city centre.

Unless you like stopping to look around a museum while wearing road cleats, not really a highlight. One for bike tourers, not road cyclists.

Shared use pedestrian path unsuitable for road cycling. Avoid.
