This is the site of Skirlaugh Rail Station, which closed to passengers on May 6, 1957, but remained in use for goods traffic until November 11, 1963. The platforms are visible alongside the rail trail.

Archetypal English village with its large village green surrounded by pretty stone houses and two pubs. The open beck runs in front of the houses in Eastgate, each with their own private bridge. The banks of the stream are planted with flowers. Skidby Mill is a Grade II listed four-sail windmill and is surrounded by its original outbuildings and courtyard. The Museum of East Riding Rural Life is housed in the outbuildings. The Mill is still operational but from January 2022 is undergoing renovations so is not currently milling flour or open to the public. Great place to stop for a breather and be amazed at the architecture

Beverley Minster is one of the largest parish churches in the UK and is a seen as a gothic masterpiece. It is also known as the Parish Church of St John and St Martin. The building as it stands today was completed in the 15th century but there has been a religious site here since 700. St John was buried in the chapel of the saxon church which stood here in the 8th century and the present minster was built around it.

North Newbald is a 'typical' village with a village green and pubs at its centre. Ings Beck flows in front of village houses which makes it even more picturesque. It is a popular place for walkers as the Yorkshire Wolds Way passes nearby. On the village green you will see the Whipping Stone. Legend has it a man was whipped to death here but it is more likely to be the base of the old market cross. Newbald stone was used to build parts of York as well as St Mary's and the Minster in Beverley. The quarry is long since depleted.

The former railway line has a bad surface and goes straight for many kilometers. There is also nothing scenically offered, rather boring.

This path is quiet a long one which is primarily under shade. There is car parking close by and a view benches to sit down and relax.

Well worth a visit, lots of places to lock your bike up too plus free wifi if you need to check Strava :D

Great route, really enjoyed it, rode it many years ago and it has improved massively, if it's been wet prepare to get mucky, MTB or gravel bike is a breeze, I wouldnt bother with a road bike, can be done but the risk of a puncture is huge. Will definitely ride again.

This is the old railway line from Hull to Hornsea, which is now the Trans Pennine Trail. You can see what I reckon are the old platforms for a station as there seem to be two lines that merge back into one.

Although very flat and initially from Hull the surface is excellent, about half way to Hornsea it becomes a very poor track. This track is only really suited for Mountain bikes. Harder work than you would think on my Hybrid. Needs surfacing all the way.

Beverley Minster is one of the largest churches in the UK and it is actually bigger than many cathedrals.
