The Eifel is a hiking paradise

The bench and cross are visibly well-maintained, and sometimes there are even suet balls hanging in the tree. A lovely place for a rest.

Even when visibility is poor, the view is beautiful.

Shelter located at a hiking parking lot. A few benches and tables, as well as a view of the Vinxtbachtal Bridge.

It's worth it at any time of year.

Made of basalt, as the dark color of the small stone sacred monument reveals, there is a very old wayside cross here. The inscription is, as the proverbial "ravages of time" dictate, only partially legible; Anne has reproduced it in her article as far as it can be recognized. The niche is striking in its design; perhaps it once housed a saint's figure in earlier times (but that is speculation).

The view from this spot allows you to see two highlights at once: Directly in front of you, the water surface of the "Rodder Maar" glitters, a popular destination for hikers or walkers, and from the wooded mountain in the background rises the (rebuilt) tower of the Olbrück, also a striking landmark of this region.
