At the Narvik War Museum, you can learn a lot about the Battle of Narvik in World War II. There's also general information about Norway's military history, international conflicts, and the importance of human rights. There's also an exhibition on the city's history, focusing on the Viking Age, folk art, and folklore.

The building was built in the second half of the 19th century and was originally part of the "Narvikgården" farm. With the beginning of railway construction, it was used as a post office from 1888 onwards and renamed "Viktoriahavn Post Office" in honor of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. In 1899, the post office moved to larger premises in the city center.

Narvik is the terminus of the Ofotbanen (Swedish Railway). The line was built for freight transport. Huge, long, and heavy trains transport iron ore from Kiruna, Sweden, to the loading facility and transfer it to ships. Thanks to the Gulf Stream, the port is ice-free year-round, making loading possible year-round.

The fountain by sculptor Finn Eriksen was unveiled on June 30, 1956 and became Narvik's Freedom Monument: Its motto "Liv opp av kaos" symbolizes people's will to survive and be free after the chaos of the Second World War. Worth seeing 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻
