On October 14, 2022, Henningsvær was declared a cultural landscape of national value by the King in Council. The protection regulations emphasize that Henningsvær should continue to be a vibrant place with housing, fishing, commerce, and tourism. The principle is "protection through use." Protection does not prevent the preservation of the area for development for commercial activities based on established ecological and cultural-historical values.

Interesting open air museum about the historic fishing village of Nusfjord. Entrance is 100 NOK. There are several buildings to be visited and three restaurants. Great place with fantastic views!

Toilets cost 20 NOK and are really clean. There is a sink with free water for washing & cleaning. The visitor center will open fall 2024, but there is a small kiosk selling snacks. It’s open on Sundays.
