The parking costs 150 NOK for 24 hours. Ideal for an overnight stay in a motorhome. The shuttle bus to the cable car costs 50 NOK. From here you can access the trailhead to the Hulderhola cave and can find a restaurant right beside the parking.

This stunning cave overlooks the surrounding area and offers a sheltered vantage point from which to enjoy the view of the landscape, with its incredible lakes nestled among small mountains. The best time to visit is from April to September (when there is no risk of snow).

Below the vast Lake Heddersvatn, the trail runs along the shores of a smaller body of water, Budeitjønn. From its shores, you can find small spots where you can go for a swim or simply enjoy the peaceful scenery.

At 1,883 meters, Gaustatoppen is the highest mountain in the Telemark province. On a clear day, the summit offers impressive panoramic views of up to one-sixth of Norway. ​You can either hike to the summit or take the Gaustatoppen funicular, a convenient ride through the mountain's interior. The Gaustatoppen Tourist Inn awaits you at the summit. Not only can you stay overnight here, but you can also refuel with delicious waffles that taste simply delicious with such a breathtaking view! 😋😋

Beware. This parking lot will cost you an arm and a leg! We were there at 8:30…. Parking until 12:00 was 300 kroner, and after 12:00 another 300. No middle ground, no way to pay for the actual time you are parked there. Paid 600, but I am absolutely furious. What a dirty rip-off!

From here, you can not only reach the summit, but also the more easily accessible, broad ridge of Gaustatoppen. The view from here also rewards the climb through the scree.
