Bergom Church, with parking available, makes it a good base for a bike ride or a walk in the surrounding area. If you continue down the street, you'll reach Bergom's Lourdes Grotto.

It's worth going through the gate and exploring the abbey complex from the inside. The church looks super clean and newly painted. The interior is also beautiful! Iconic photoshoot moment with @rosstoss434 during the Flanders Divide (see my collection) 2024. Church of Our Lady of the Assumption – Bergom (Herselt) Built between 1960 and 1962 to a design by René Joseph van Steenbergen, this austere brick church is a beautiful example of post-war neo-Gothic architecture. The west tower with its slender spire, pointed-arch windows, and oriented nave give the building a classical appearance. Below the church are a weekly chapel and parish halls. Since 2019, it has been listed on the Inventory of Architectural Heritage. Today, the church remains active in the Pastoral Unit of Sts. Prisca and Aquila and serves as a recognizable landmark in Bergom.

Be careful on the confusing bends... The asphalt is quite narrow and the traffic is also quite fast...
