The Schulensmeer is the largest inland lake in Flanders. Numerous benches invite you to take a break.

You feel the peace here, especially when you're on the other side and can admire the horses and sheep nearby in the beautiful open countryside. I'll definitely come back here for a walk. Wonderful 😎

A beautiful photo opportunity of, and on the tower. You must have been there once to enjoy the unique view of the hills of the Hageland.

The Vlooybergtoren is a tourist attraction on the Pastoriestraat in the Flemish Brabant municipality of Tielt-Winge. The lookout tower is located on the Vlooyberg, with its eighty meters one of the highest witness hills in the Hageland, which on clear days offers a view up to the cooling towers of Vilvoorde and the headframe of the coal mine of Beringen.

At the top of the "tower" various signs help you identify what exactly you can see in the distance. Among the various places that are indicated and that you can see, depending on the conditions (more in the photos): the cooling towers of Vilvoorde at 34.5 kilometers, the mine slag heaps of Beringen at 27.5 kilometers, the castle of Horst at 6 kilometers, and Cargill in Herent at 16.8 kilometers. Of course you can see more than that, if the weather is good and even more if you have binoculars with you.

Around the monumental Maiden's Tower, a natural amphitheater has been constructed as a meeting and event location in the railway embankment. It is also very popular as a picnic area. The area around the tower has been partly raised for events and partly excavated for water storage and nature. Information boards have been incorporated into a picnic bench and built on stone walls from fragments of the collapsed Maiden's Tower. (Public Space Database)
