De Woestijnkapel 또는 Kapel van het Heilig Kruis는 Gooik의 작은 마을인 Strijland의 Woestijnstraat에 있습니다. 이곳은 13세기에 한 양치기의 개들이 땅을 파헤치다가 노란색 구리 십자고상을 발견했을 때 예배당이 세워진 곳입니다. 1280년경에 만들어졌을 것으로 추정되는 십자가는 곧 Woestijn으로 순례를 오는 순례자들의 숭배 대상이 되었습니다. 그러나 현재의 예배당은 1600년에 지어졌고, 1713년에 둥근 천장이 없는 현관이 추가되었습니다. 내부에는 2개의 코린트식 기둥이 있는 1635년 바로크 양식의 현관 제단이 있습니다. 이 예배당은 1942년부터 기념물로 보호되고 있습니다. 출처: https://www.flickr.com/photos/erfgoed/4952793498

The St. Amandus Church consists of a three-aisled nave under a single roof, with an integrated western tower, a three-sided choir, and a north and south sacristy. The interior features include the 16th-century baptismal font, two 17th-century portico altars in marbled wood, and the beautifully carved 18th-century wainscoting, churchwarden pew, choir stalls, and pulpit. The organ dates from 1931 and was built by the Reygaert brothers from Geraardsbergen. (Open Churches)

Embittered and filled with resentment toward conservative Catholics, Smid Lambrecht became fascinated by the Roelanders, as the Daensists in the Ninove region called themselves. Frans Lambrecht quickly became the most prominent figure in this burgeoning political movement. Lambrecht devoted the rest of his life to Daensism. Fanatical, even: when in 1905 the weekly magazine "Klokke Roeland" of the Ninove Daensists was absorbed by the conservative Catholic party, he founded a new weekly magazine, "De Vrije Klok" (The Free Clock). A sunken road is a road that is so deeply worn that it lies between two slopes. It is the result of centuries of use and erosion. The most beautiful sunken roads can be found especially in hilly areas with a subsoil that easily forms steep walls, such as in Haspengouw and Hageland.
