At this hidden location, you can discover a hidden resting place. Once a beautiful viewpoint of the Scheldt. A place of entertainment and enjoyment by the river. Historical significance: It may sound unlikely, but this unique building was originally the Swedish pavilion at the 1930 World's Fair in Antwerp. Historical significance of this location: Until World War II, residents of Bazel and Hemiksem came here to cool off in the concrete pool filled with Scheldt water. The adjacent pavilion served as a cafeteria and bathhouse at the time. The municipality decided to preserve the pavilion as a landmark on the Scheldt. Today, this place is an idyllic spot for many walkers and cyclists in the Polders of Kruibeke.

A work of art by Lieven d'Haese. The beautiful execution draws you right into the boat. The artwork "The King of Kingabwa" refers not only to the artist's native African country but also to the colonial history of the CNR shipyard. Between 1928 and 1955, ships were built here for Congo.

Beveren purchased the estate in 1982. It boasts the striking 18th-century neoclassical castle, but the farm, ice cellars, and orangery are also worth a visit. During the Middle Ages, the estate was called "Shaecx" after the oldest residents of the fiefdom, the Noethaeckx family. This is how the place got its name. It was Jean-Baptist Versmessen, chief alderman of the Land van Waas castellany, who laid out the estate in its current form in 1781. The English landscape garden appears in 19th-century illustrations. It remained in the Versmessen family until textile manufacturer Edmond Meert purchased the property. The castle was severely damaged during WWII, leaving only a ruin. Restoration took place between 2004 and 2007, and it is now hoped to restore the interior to its former grandeur.
