Smooth stretch of road forbidden for cars

Good surface. Watch out for sand on some spots, with a road bike.

This section of road has the particularity, despite the absence of cars, of having a beautiful cycle path. It also benefits from protection against the sun with a beautiful foliage.

The commune of Walhain extends between two ancient Roman roads: to the south, the Chaussée Brunehaut and to the north the Via Gallia Belgica, which in the Middle Ages would become a section of the road to Saint Jacques de Compostela.

Between hollow paths, hills and small roads, you benefit here from beautiful views of the village of Saint-Martin.

Pretty cycle path isolated from car traffic. The asphalt is uneven and the road is sometimes dirty (mud), but no problem on a road bike.

The geographical center of Belgium (nicknamed Navel of Belgium) is materialized by a metal structure, the work of a Walhin architect. He integrated various symbols specific to the political geography of the country. The base represents the earth's crust, the triangle schematizes Belgium and the three pylons symbolize the regions. The tip of the pyramid indicates the geographical center of Belgium. Three tablets provide information in the three national languages: German, French and Dutch. As a reminder, tradition placed the geographical center of Belgium in Ittre before 1919 (Treaty of Versailles) and did not take into account the eastern cantons (Eupen-Malmedy). The Geographic Center of Belgium was inaugurated on August 22, 1998.
