This beautiful path through the Lembeekse Bossen offers an adventurous MTB experience with winding single tracks, sandy sections and roots that provide an extra challenge. The forest is densely overgrown and lets sunlight fall alternately through the trees, which creates an atmospheric rhythm of light and shadow.

nice tracks, alternating with road. Especially at the beginning of the tour, two segments after a wet period are rather unpleasant. But anyway, overall a fun ride. Well amused.

A beautifully restored wooden post mill in Lembeke. The current mill was built around 1780-1785 with the reuse of many beams from the old mill. The mill has always been in operation and is well maintained. During the Second World War, the resistance used the Westermolen as a location from which messages were sent to England. The mill has been left standing to commemorate a killed resistance fighter who belonged to the d'Alcantara family, the then owners of the mill.

The wooden Westermolen originally dates from the mid-15th century. There used to be a horse riding mill here, which was used in windless weather. The last miller was Jozef Vervinck. He milled from 1933 until a spring storm in 1953 seriously damaged the mill. Count Adhémar d'Alcantara bought the mill and had it repaired. Vervinck milled the Lembeek and Eeklose grain until the advent of the electric mills. In 1965 the mill was shut down and the blades were removed for safety reasons. In 1979-81 the mill was restored. Since then it has been maintained and operated by the certified miller Erik Cackaert. The Westermolen has four millstones, each weighing about 1000 kg. Normal production is 300 kg of flour per hour. In 2016, a new thorough restoration of the mill followed. Protected in 1973. Source: https://meetjes.land/
