William Tell with his son Walter is a statue by the Einsiedeln sculptor Josef Benedikt Curiger from 1786. It originally stood on a fountain column in Altdorf and was the first Altdorf Tell monument. It was presented to the townspeople by the people of Altdorf.

The Klausen Pass is a 1,948 m above sea level mountain pass in the Swiss canton of Uri, connecting the canton's core area to Glarus via the Urner Boden valley, which is continuously inhabited in winter and therefore a functional exclave. The pass leads from Altdorf (canton of Uri) through the Schächen Valley, over the pass summit and the parish of Urnerboden to Linthal in the canton of Glarus. The pass summit forms the border between the Uri municipality of Unterschächen and the Urner Boden region, which belongs to Spiringen.

The legend of the famous Devil's Stone goes like this: After many unsuccessful attempts by the people of Uri to build a bridge through the Schöllenen Gorge, they turned to the devil for help. As compensation, the devil was to be awarded the first soul to cross the bridge. After the bridge was built, however, the clever people of Uri sent a billy goat across the bridge instead of a human being. The furious devil wanted to destroy the bridge again and instead fetched this enormous boulder to throw onto the bridge. However, he didn't get a chance, as a pious old woman painted a cross on the stone, and the devil therefore left the stone in Göschenen.

From the busy Göschenen, the narrow road climbs gently into the valley for the first few kilometers, until it then becomes more winding and steeper as it climbs to the reservoir from Wiggen.

Direct route to Schattdorf

In this sharp bend there is a passing place for large vehicles and a bench with a wonderful view of the lake. Here you can safely get off your bike away from the road and enjoy the view of the Uri region.
