The Vitus Fountain, dating from 1613, stands in the market square of Vacha in front of the red-timbered town hall. The statue depicts the city's patron saint, Saint Vitus, dressed as a Roman knight. His left hand hangs down, holding a shield that depicts his martyrdom.

Unmissable on the market square, the Vitus Fountain is a real eye-catcher. It was built in 1613 and renovated in 1818. The round sandstone basin contains a fountain column with reliefs from the life of the city's patron saint and is crowned with the figure of St. Vitus.

The church's origins date back to the 15th century. The simple building was renovated several times before its demolition in 1930. The last service took place in January 1930, followed by the laying of the foundation stone for the new building, which was consecrated in August. The hall church, with its steeple extending into the nave and supporting an octagonal tent roof between battlements, is built in the style of a fortified church. The Pietà from the 1735 altar has been preserved. The wooden figures of St. Valentine and St. Pantaleon come from an altar of the Fourteen Holy Helpers from the early 16th century. From every angle, the Philippsthal potash mine's spoil heap is a fantastic photo opportunity. Depending on the depth and layer from which the spoil reaches the heap, it displays different colors. The eastern edge of the heap lies directly on the former border with the GDR. A former border security watchtower can also be seen there.
