This road, an ancient communication route between Val Taleggio and Val Sassina, is today still partly used as a rapid (and steep) communication route for agricultural and livestock breeding purposes between the valley floor in the town of Maggio and the pastures near the Culmination St. Peter's. Starting from the fountain of San Lorenzo a Maggio (800m above sea level), the road enters the valley for about 2km with a pleasant slope up to an altitude of 900m in the hamlet of Ussola where a few steep hairpin bends introduce the most challenging part of the route which, in the following 4km scarce, it allows you to gain the 350m of difference in altitude missing for the Culmine San Pietro (1250m above sea level). The route winds along an agricultural-pastoral road with a well-maintained rock and compact stone surface, probably the result of recent landscaping works.
