This complex, also known as the Sanctuary of the Annunciation, is located in a splendid panoramic position overlooking the valley and is a site of great historical, artistic, and spiritual interest. Founded in the 15th century, the Sanctuary is a notable example of Lombard late Gothic architecture. The convent is run by the Capuchin Friars and is particularly linked to the figure of Blessed Innocenzo da Berzo, whose cell-museum is open to visitors.

Here you'll find a group of engraved monoliths (engraved stone blocks) dating back to the Copper Age (about 4,500 years ago, or the 3rd millennium BC). These stelae were part of an important ceremonial and megalithic site, where rituals were held. They are characterized by engravings depicting celestial symbols, animals, weapons (such as Remedello-type daggers), and stylized human faces, sometimes with decorative elements such as pendants and collars. The original stelae have been removed for conservation reasons and are on display at the MUPRE (National Museum of Prehistory of Valle Camonica) in Capo di Ponte. Reproductions are visible here.

Beautiful convent in a super panoramic position

A key feature of the "CRISTO RE" depictions is that Jesus is not shown on the cross or as crucified (although the outstretched arms suggest this from a distance), but rather Christ is the King, the victor over sin and death has overcome all the suffering in the world. It is the outstretched arms of the lovingly drawing Christ with which he embraces the land and the people living in it in blessing.

The bridge over the Davine is a small wooden bridge built to allow you to cross this stream which originates from the Corna Rossa and acquires various small tributaries in its dizzying descent towards the Oglio.

Malegno is a small village in the Camonica Valley which is located at the entrance to the Lozio valley. Bathed by the waters of the Lanico stream, it hosts one of the oldest institutions in the area: a hospice for travellers, today called Ospedale degli Esposti della Valle. In Malegno it is possible to admire a "Wall in art", a wall painted as part of the Vallecamonica cultural district project, designed to bring art to the small towns of the area, making it accessible to everyone.

Between the towns of Erbanno and Annunciata you have a splendid view of the valley below. Walking halfway up the cobblestones of the Via Valeriana is an excellent way to fully enjoy this panorama above Pian di Borno.
