Camagna Monferrato, in the province of Alessandria, has ancient origins, likely linked to Roman centuriation. A fiefdom of the Aleramici family and then the Paleologi family, it passed to the Gonzaga family, renowned connoisseurs of local wines. The fortified village developed from the 10th century, with a medieval castle, rebuilt in the 18th century, located in a panoramic position.

The Torre Troiana was built in the 13th century and is 44 meters high. It has a square base measuring 5.90 meters on each side and a narrow, curved dome. To visit, you must purchase a ticket for €10 at the tourist office. This ticket allows access to five attractions; you cannot purchase a ticket at the tower itself.

Located on the edge of the old city, this area represents an eloquent example of 19th-century urban planning and architecture. Piazza Alfieri (or Piazza del Palio) is surrounded by porticoed buildings and in its center stands the Monument to Vittorio Alfieri (1862) by Giuseppe Dini. It is also the place where the Palio di Asti takes place every third Sunday of September.
