The easy jogging or hiking route from and to Salveymühle leads behind the Bismarck oak tree to the right through the fields. Beautiful light, splashes of color from cornflowers and moonflowers in June (but little shade in the heat).

First mentioned as a castle at the end of the 12th century, Penkun Castle is today one of the last remaining castles of the Pomeranian Dukes. The castle association runs a border and customs museum in the former administrator's house, and there is a small exhibition on the judicial system in Pomerania in the castle cellar.

History The first mention of the village dates back to 1243, when the Pomeranian Duke Barnim I confirmed donations to the nunnery in Stettin, including "quatuor mansis in Reinikendorph". The next mentions date from 1259, when Barnim I donated the land between the Salbeibach and the village to the town of Gartz, from 1280, when taxes from the village were assigned to the Stettin Marienstift, and from 1318, when the town of Gartz acquired half of the village. Until 1939, Hohenreinkendorf was a rural community in the Randow district of the Prussian province of Pomerania. With the dissolution of the Randow district in 1939, the community of Hohenreinkendorf was reclassified into the Greifenhagen district. After the Second World War, Hohenreinkendorf was located in the newly formed Randow district in the Soviet Occupation Zone and thus in the state of Mecklenburg.

Otto von Bamberg visited Pomerania twice on his missionary journeys between 1120 and 1130 to bring Christianity to the local Slavs. He found many places almost deserted or completely abandoned. Immediately after the colonization, as was common at the time, the church was built, the first mention of which dates back to 1318. It is still unchanged in the ring walls, which have been preserved.
