The castle of Agliè was born as a medieval defensive fortress. Only in the 17th century, thanks to the work of Amedeo da Castellamonte, commissioned by Filippo di San Martino di Agliè, did it become a royal residence. In the 18th century the castle became the property of the Savoy family.
