Going to Castellar without passing by the castle is impossible 🤪

Visited in late April, I can confirm the overall good condition of the little church with its fountain and barbecue. The uphill path through the woods is flooded in many sections with a fair amount of mud.

Attention!! The climb up the cobblestones to the private entrance of the castle is pedestrian only and does not appear to be permitted for bicycles.

The ancient village of Saluzzo is gorgeous. Narrow cobbled streets between historic buildings lead up to Castilla, the fortress/castle that towers over the city, a bit like the Spielberg towers over Brno (ironically). A must visit.
