Road panorama out of season with little traffic

The Carolingian Tower of Framura is located in the hamlet of Costa. It is the only structure still standing of a medieval fortification placed in a strategic position to control the coast and the hinterland. The tower is one of the oldest structures in Liguria, in fact it is called "Carolingian Tower", because, except for the machicolations and some friezes added later by the Genoese, it assumed its current structure around the 9th century, but its base dates back to the 4th century AD.

From the town of Framura, passing through the hamlet of Anzi-Setta and going down towards the sea, you arrive at the characteristic “Porticciolo di Framura”. From here, going up with the elevator you reach the beautiful “Ciclovia Framura-Bonassola-Levanto” between tunnels, views overlooking the sea and emerald beach.

From the provincial road that connects the various villages of the Cinque Terre you have a splendid view of them: from this point in particular, on the slopes of Monte Rossòla, you have a splendid view of Levanto.

Going up the SP41 inland you almost reach the A12, but first you cross the Framura district and among these the small village of Costa is worth a stop where you can find a precious fresh water fountain and the beautiful Tower Carolingian dating back to the year 1000 which stands out on the gulf of Genoa; we were lucky enough to climb on it, a spectacle from which you would never want to take your eyes off!!! ATTENTION because continuing towards the Bracco pass I didn't find any water points!!!!!
