Montoggio is a village in the Genoese hinterland, nestled among the woods and hills of the upper Bisagno Valley. It's located about thirty kilometers from Genoa, but the atmosphere is completely different: the landscape here is made up of tranquil valleys, clear streams, and small clusters of houses scattered among meadows and chestnut groves. Dominating the village from above are the ruins of the Fieschi Castle, which controlled the valley in the Middle Ages and was the scene of clashes between ancient Ligurian noble families, leaving behind an aura of history that blends harmoniously with the tranquility of the surrounding nature.

Val Pentemina is a small side valley of the upper Trebbia Valley, located in the municipality of Torriglia, in the heart of the Ligurian Apennines. It extends through chestnut and beech forests at the foot of Mount Prelà and takes its name from the Pentemina stream that flows through it. It is a quiet and sparsely populated valley, where time seems to have stood still: ancient stone villages like Pentema bear witness to the rural life of the past.

Pentema is an ancient mountain village with medieval origins, likely founded in the 14th century and largely intact over time. Gradual abandonment has preserved its stone houses and the authentic atmosphere of rural life. It is famous for its life-size living nativity scene, which brings the village streets to life every Christmas with scenes of 19th-century rural life.
