beautiful valley and very welcoming refuge

Alternative from Schiazzera lake for a loop from Schiazzera refuge. Excellent view of the valley floor and upper valley. The descent to the refuge includes a very easy passage with a chain, placed more to increase safety, than for real danger.

an easy walk that is feasible and reaches 2550 metres. You start from the lower mountain hut and reach the cross. It is possible to do a circular tour

I was lucky enough to be part of the refuge team, it was like being with family, I was there for two months as a handyman and dishwasher, a beautiful place and an exceptional family

A little above Grosotto but towards Vione, the church of San Martino has a beautiful fresco depicting San Martino in his classical iconography offering his cloak, and a beautiful view of the valley as far as Grosio and Sondalo.

The church of Roncale is a mountain church, not too small for the few houses that surround it, but it offers a beautiful view of the Serottini mountains area and the Mortirolo pass.

At a certain point, this small path branches off from the asphalt road to Pugien and in a few dozen meters leads to an erratic boulder similar to the Rupe Magna of Grosio, with a very panoramic view of the Valtellina. We stopped to have our snack on the bench at the edge of the boulder, which is also equipped to make a small fire. Magnificent view, very quaint, I will return!

The Casina di Piana refuge is located at the entrance to Val Piana, the first side valley south of Val Grosina, inserted in the western Rhaetian Alps in the direction of Val Poschiavo. The strategic position along the Sentiero Italia allows various excursions towards Switzerland and the nearby Grosina and Saiento valleys, as well as towards the numerous surrounding peaks. The building, owned by the Municipality of Grosotto, has recently been enlarged and renovated. Most of the trails in this area are well maintained and not particularly technically difficult, making running a pleasure.
