The chapel is named after Saint Radegund, a pious maidservant from the 13th century who was killed by wolves on her way home from a leper house where she cared for the sick. A large church was later built on the site of her burial, which is now represented by the small chapel. The chapel is part of a historic pilgrimage site that dates back to the veneration of Saint Radegund.

The Protestant Church of St. James in Augsburg is located in the Jakobervorstadt district and is a historic pilgrimage church on the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago). It was built in the 14th century as a Gothic hall church and was one of the first churches in Augsburg to hold Protestant services (from 1521). After its destruction in World War II, it was rebuilt by 1963. Today, it also offers simple pilgrim accommodation and is the center of the annual St. James' Week and the Jakober Kirchweih, Augsburg's oldest folk festival.

St. Mark's Chapel, Fuggerei, Augsburg St. Mark's Church is part of the famous Fuggerei in Augsburg. It was built between 1580 and 1582, possibly by master mason Hans Holl. The residents of the Fuggerei committed themselves to daily prayers for the founder, Jakob Fugger, and his family. In 1731, the church building was remodeled in the Baroque style under master mason Johann Schuster. The ceiling fresco, which no longer exists today, was designed by the artist Johann Peter Domer. During air raids on Augsburg in 1944, the church was completely destroyed by fire, and reconstruction took place until 1950. As a result, fundamental changes were made to the interior architecture.
