A beautiful 2.5km long path leads completely around the motorway lake. Numerous benches and sunbathing lawns invite you to linger. A children's playground, barbecue areas, toilets and a beer garden are also on site. Swimming in the lake is possible in summer.

The Protestant Church of St. James in Augsburg is located in the Jakobervorstadt district and is a historic pilgrimage church on the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago). It was built in the 14th century as a Gothic hall church and was one of the first churches in Augsburg to hold Protestant services (from 1521). After its destruction in World War II, it was rebuilt by 1963. Today, it also offers simple pilgrim accommodation and is the center of the annual St. James' Week and the Jakober Kirchweih, Augsburg's oldest folk festival.

A beautiful view over the Lech plain all the way to Augsburg. In the evening, a perfect spot for a sundowner.

The Loreto Chapel in Stätzling, a district of Friedberg near Augsburg, is an important baroque monument from the late 17th century. It was built in 1688 by Gallus Sebastian von Deuring, the then district judge and later lord of the manor of Stätzling. The chapel is a replica of the Santa Casa in Loreto, Italy, and reflects the spread of the Loreto cult in Bavaria.  Architecturally, it is a small, almost windowless rectangular building with curved gables and a roof turret. Inside is a copy of the miraculous image of Loreto from the late 17th century. During a renovation in 1968, the original wall painting, which represents painted exposed brickwork, was uncovered.  The Loreto Chapel is a testament to baroque sacred architecture and the veneration of the Virgin Mary in the region. It is included in the list of monuments and can be visited. 

The Jakobertor is one of the five remaining medieval city gates in Augsburg and marks the eastern end of the Jakobervorstadt. Built in the 14th century, it served as an important access point for travelers and traders from the east. On April 24, 1632, King Gustav II Adolf of Sweden entered the city through this gate.  Architecturally, the Jakobertor is characterized by its four-sided substructure with pointed archways and a two-story, octagonal superstructure with a high tent roof. On the west side, several stone tablets from Roman times are walled in near the ground, which were used as spolia.  Over the centuries, the gate has been renovated several times and adapted to the needs of the city. Today it is a listed building and is an important testimony to Augsburg's city history. The Jakobertor is not only an architectural highlight, but also a popular starting point for walks along the former city wall. It offers an insight into the medieval fortifications and the historical development of the city of Augsburg.

In 1346, a Porta nova (new gate) was mentioned at this location. The name Jakobertor did not become common until 100 years later. The gate was still locked at night until 1820. The application to demolish the Jakobertor dated July 25, 1871 had around 50 signatures. It was not until 1881 that the demolition was abandoned following protests from citizens and city planning officer Ludwig Leybold. To make room, the right side of the city wall facing out of town, between the customs house and the gate, was demolished.
